Question 49

How does Christ's ascension into heaven benefit us?

Scripture

  1. Romans 8:34 [1]
Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. (ESV)
  2. 1 John 2:1 [1]
Christ Our Advocate My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. (ESV)
  3. John 14:2 [2]
In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? (ESV)
  4. John 17:24 [2]
Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. (ESV)
  5. Ephesians 2:4–6 [2]
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, (ESV)
  6. John 14:16 [3]
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, (ESV)
  7. Acts 2:33 [3]
Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing. (ESV)
  8. 2 Corinthians 1:21–22 [3]
And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. (ESV)
  9. 2 Corinthians 5:5 [3]
He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. (ESV)
  10. Colossians 3:1–4 [4]
Put On the New Self If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. (ESV)
